The title of this post is from a promotional video for a "MOOC", which is short for "Massive Online Open Course". MOOCs are real course modules from universities, opened for enrolment to anyone in the world. The words "massive" and "open" mean that anyone can join... and so can you!

The MOOC is "New Energy Technologies: Energy Transition and Sustainable Development". It is being offered the Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM), on FutureLearn, the UK MOOC platform.

Here is a description of the MOOC:

In a world facing pressing energy challenges, the need for alternative energy and new energy technologies has never been more pressing. This course explores the new and upcoming technologies that may help solve some of the world’s biggest energy challenges - examining them from both a business and technological perspective.

Created by Grenoble Ecole de Management and Tenerrdis, alongside Air Liquide, GE Renewable Energy, CNR, Think Smartgrids, Yélé Consulting, Schneider Electric and Grenoble Institute of Technology, it uniquely combines leading academic research with on-the-ground experience.

Here is a description of GEM: 

For the past 30 years, Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) has established itself in France and abroad as a leading business school through expertise in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The MOOC runs for 6 weeks, from 29th May 2017 to sometime in early July 2017. 

The programme will be led by Dr Olivier Cateura, "Senior Manager at Yélé Consulting & Associate Prof. at Grenoble Ecole de Management", and Mr Fabrice Arroyo, a "teacher and manager of the Advanced Master (MS) in Energy Marketing and Management at GEM Business School".

Why join?

Let me be clear that I do not profit from recommending you to join this free MOOC.

As petrol is a type of energy, it stands to reason that you, dear reader, would be interested in this MOOC. I might join, and so should you.

To be honest, I have no idea what it means to "decarbonize, decentralize, and digitize" energy. But the energy of the future seems to be renewable energy, based on generating electricity from renewable sources. And electricity can be measured, hence (perhaps) the use of the word, "digitize". (I might be wrong.)

It seems to be good training for those interested in the energy industry. (People need to stay updated with the latest thinking in their industry from time to time.)
